Wren Academy’s Art and Design Department received some wonderful news from The Arts Society

TASJust before the Christmas break Wren Academy’s Art and Design Department received some wonderful news from The Arts Society.  The Arts Society is a leading arts education charity with a global network of local Societies which bring people together through a shared curiosity for the arts.  They are maintained through volunteering and grants and they state that their main strength is ‘their people, joined together by a passion for the arts which can nourish and empower us all’.  The aim of the society is to create a better, healthier and more connected society.  It is fitting that the selection panel, who came to the Summer Show in June 2023 and viewed all the A Level artwork, picked out some pieces exploring the idea of personal identity.  Four works were chosen for consideration for the National vote.

The judging panel have met and I am delighted to confirm that the following work that was submitted into this year’s A Level Art Competition, has been shortlisted for the public vote.  The public vote will take place via The Arts Society website and via their ‘Monthly highlights’ e-newsletter, that is emailed to all their members and subscribers.  The deadline for voting will be Thursday 29 February.  The Arts Society will announce the winner in early March when an online gallery featuring all the artworks entered will be launched on their website.  The belief that the arts have the potential to enrich peoples' lives is at the heart of everything that the society does which aligns with our ambitions within the Art and Design Department at Wren Academy.
