Carol Service Posted: 16/12/22

The evening also featured our first ever staff and Sixth Form Chamber Choir

Despite having to delay our annual Carol Service by a day due to the snow, it was lovely to see so many students taking part in our service on Tuesday 13 December.

Our theme for the evening was Everyone is Welcome and included the beautiful performance of the song ‘At This Table’ by Idina Menzel, performed by our Gospel Choir, which reflected on our theme.  The Gospel Choir also performed an arrangement of ‘Angels We Have Heard on High’, which included a contemporary chorus of ‘Glory Be’, and ‘What a Glorious Night’ by Sidewalk Prophets.  Isabella G, 13 Holborn presented the solo ‘Who Could Imagine an King’ which was stunning, and the Year 7 Choir, made of students selected to represent each house sang ‘Bless Us All’, originally from the film Muppets Christmas Carol.  This was accompanied by a band of Year 9 music students.

The evening also featured our first ever staff and Sixth Form Chamber Choir who presented an arrangement of ‘O Holy Night’; the students were particularly impressed with the vocal talents we have within our staff body and the choir is keen to perform again and future events.  The service also featured festive readings presented by our students; this included a poem written and performed by our Poet Laureate, Sofia S, 7 Ludgate, also entitled ‘Everyone is Welcome’.  Our message for the evening was presented by Rev Dudley Hanciles from St Barnabas Church, it was his first time visiting Wren Academy, but we hope he will be involved in more events in the future!

Thank you to all the staff, parents and students who braved the icy weather to make sure the evening could happen.  We look forward to seeing many of you at our Spring Recital and Summer Showcase in 2023.
