On Wednesday 7 June, five student bands performed in our Battle of the Bands. Drop Pink, a Year 11 band, opened the event with a fantastic performance of a song they have written themselves. This band have been together a while and are used to performing, while for most of the other bands this was their first performance. These bands were mostly formed in the band musicianship enrichment. The students all showed confidence and demonstrated how hard they had worked preparing for this.

We Come in Peace also performed an original song, which these Year 8 boys had written together.  The event included an Ed Sheeran song performed by the band Trio, where Alex was able to demonstrate his skills at using a loop pedal along with his guitar and vocals.

Michael Jackson’s classic Billie Jean was performed by Reverb, taking one of the runner up spots with judges commenting on how impressive Jude opening drum solo was.

Paint (consisting of Sylvie, Louis and Stephanie) won the battle with their fantastic rendition of Coldplay’s Yellow.

Comments from the audience and judges showed how impressed people were with all the performances.  A special thanks goes to the judges, Miss Gordon-Smith, Mr Hussein and Jonathan Turner, who gave useful feedback to each band.

Money raised from this is being donated to our link school in Kenya.
