Course Structure |
Component 1: Exploring the Performing Arts – 30% (Internally Assessed)
Get a taste of what it is like to be a professional performer. Explore different performance styles, investigate practitioners and discover performance skills and techniques. Three existing repertories will be studied to gain an understanding of the creative processes that brought them to the stage. These will cover a variety of genres.
Assessment:
Various portfolio based tasks and practical workshops.
Component 2: Developing Skills and Techniques – 30% (Internally Assessed)
Develop skills and techniques as an actor. Take part in workshops and rehearsals, gain skills and apply these in performance. Reflect on progress, performance and how they could improve.
Assessment:
Various portfolio based tasks, rehearsals and performance.
Component 3: Performing to a Brief – 40% (Externally Assessed)
Students will use a brief set by the exam board to come up with ideas, build on skills and review the process using an ideas and skills log. They will understand how a performance comes together.
Assessment: This will be completed under controlled conditions with allocated planning time to respond to the brief. This will include rehearsal, performance to an audience and written logs.
