Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge Final Posted: 2/02/24

Asher W, 10 Strand represented Wren Academy with his speech entitled: Why should we care about politics?

JP1A Regional Final of the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge is a public celebration of young people and the Barnet Regional Final, hosted by Friern Barnet School on Tuesday 16 January was no exception.  What a treat to hear so many fantastic speeches by such talented young people!  The evening was compered by Jonathan Drew who ran our workshop here at Wren during December.

Asher W, 10 Strand represented Wren Academy with his speech entitled: Why should we care about politics? and had this to say about his experience:

Taking part in the Jack Petchey Barnet finals was such a great opportunity, being able to perform my speech to so many people made me feel like I could really make a change. When I went to Friern Barnet School for the finals I was able to learn so much through the extra workshop and listening to other students' speeches. The whole experience was eye opening and a great experience.

Although Asher did not win, the judges and audience were impressed by his thought provoking speech and was presented with his certificate by the Mayor of Barnet, Nagus Narenthira, for his efforts. Well done Asher!
