PM Visit Posted: 15/12/23

Our Art students were fantastic, talking with an assured confidence and demonstrating considerable depth of understanding and enthusiasm for the subject

As I am sure many of you have heard, Wren Academy Finchley was chosen for a visit by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and local MP Mike Freer on Thursday 14 December. We were approached by the Cabinet Office having been recommended by the Department for Education.

The purpose of the visit was to host a press statement for the opening of the consultation about the Advanced British Standard. This is one of the government’s latest initiatives with the intention that A Levels will be replaced with a broader qualification covering five subjects from 2033.

Whilst at Wren Finchley, Mr. Sunak and Mr. Freer met with senior staff and head students, they also visited a Year 1 Maths lesson and a Year 10 Art lesson.  Our Art students were fantastic, talking with an assured confidence and demonstrating considerable depth of understanding and enthusiasm for the subject.

The press release, based on the Prime Minister’s statement to the media at Wren Finchley.
