Year 9 Geography - Natural Hazards Posted: 25/11/22

Students focused on learning about volcanoes and earthquakes to support their recent studies on natural hazards

On Monday 21 November, 30 Year 9 Geographers set out into London to explore the Natural History Museum. Students focused on learning about volcanoes and earthquakes to support their recent studies on natural hazards during their Geography lessons. This included interactive exhibits, looking at models, case studies of recent events and experiencing an earthquake simulator. Students also got the opportunity to learn about the processes that shape the Earth’s surface, preparing them for their studies later in Year 9 and even visited Dippy the Dinosaur. All students had a fantastic day expanding their Geographical understanding.

It helped me to understand what I had been learning in lessons and apply it to real-life situations.  Simone O, 9 Piccadilly

The trip was very engaging because we got to have outside information about things we were learning in school and get to learn about it in more depth. Going on the earthquake simulator was fun.  Mahi D, 9 Ludgate

Getting to see natural resources such as crystals was cool but we also learnt how they were formed which was amazing.  Aditi K, 9 Ludgate
