Wren Academy is sponsored by the Diocese of London and has a Christian vision which underpins out ethos.
During their time at the Academy, students and staff will have opportunities to explore issues of faith through the curriculum and a range of other activities.
Wren’s Chaplain is Mrs Naomi Bolster. Naomi is a member of the leadership team and works across all phases of the Academy. Naomi’s role has four main areas of focus:
- Developing Wren’s worship and prayer: ensuring that worship and prayer experienced by students and staff through assemblies, tutorial groups and special celebrations is engaging, reverent and transformational.
- Offering pastoral support: praying for the academy community and being available to offer counselling for those in need of support.
- Enabling spiritual formation: developing occasions for students to engage more deeply with issues of faith within and beyond the curriculum, and making sure there is opportunity to grow in Christian discipleship.
- Growing our Christian vision: supporting colleagues in ensuring that the Christian vision runs throughout Wren Academy life, including our daily interactions, curriculum and policies.

Meet our Chaplain
Naomi has worked with children and young people for over 20 years. This has included working in a variety of school contexts and volunteer work in local churches. She was brought up in a Church of England church, but has also been a member of other churches during her adult life. She now attends her local Church of England church, where she is involved in children's ministry and all age services.
Naomi trained as a teacher of Religious Education at Roehampton University and taught at a large secondary school in London before spending a year overseas teaching in an International School. After returning to the UK, Naomi taught Religious Education before making the move into school Chaplaincy.
Naomi has a degree in Theology, a PGCE in Secondary Education and a Master’s degree in Systematic and Philosophical Theology.
Married to Chris, Naomi has two young children who have kept her busy for the last 6 years. In her spare time (!!) she enjoys reading, visiting new places and keeping her hands busy with creative projects.
Rooted - The Christian Union
We are excited to be running Rooted at Wren Academy Finchley. Rooted meets every Monday during term time. We meet after school from 3.00 - 3.45pm in the Chapel.
Rooted welcomes all secondary students who would like to further explore the Christian faith and discuss matters relating to Christian belief. We will explore ideas and beliefs through games, discussions, creative prayer activities and more. All students are welcome to join us as we engage in conversations about themes such as: Science and Faith, Climate change, Social Media and Technology, Christianity in today’s world, God and Suffering, the Bible and Prayer.
